Lockdown Dogs

Lockdown Dogs

I’m sure we are all happy to be slowly coming out of national lockdown in little steps. Shops have reopened, people have returned to their workplaces and with so many adults vaccinated, we are all feeling a bit more optimistic.

The other side of the coin is the concern expressed by many animal charities, such as RSPCA, Battersea and Dogs Trust, to name just a very few, that there are more and more ‘lockdown’ pets being abandoned because their owners no longer have the time or the financial resources to keep them.

This is, of course, very sad, but may we suggest a couple of options that could help:

• Check if there might be an older family member or neighbour who might be delighted to look after your pet while you are at work;
• If you are fortunate enough to have a regular income, please consider making a monthly donation to one (or more if you can) of the wonderful charities that are doing so much to help any and all animals in need. Even a small regular contribution could be of such great assistance to them and the animals.

Above all, stay strong, for yourself and your animals. If you are really struggling, please get in touch with one of the animal welfare organisations who will always endeavour to do their very best for your animal and for you too.
